Dr Anthony Bolger

Anthony has just over a decade of software development industry experience, then moved into bioinformatics around 2009.

He mostly worked on analysis of sequencing data, mainly in plants, across genomics, transcriptomics and epigenomics. In parallel, he developed software tools for sequence bioinformatics (Trimmomatic being the ‘big hit’ with almost 38k citations), and also established the bioinformatics computational infrastructure within the research group.

Currently he is the technical lead of Precision ALS, responsible for delivering the Patient Data Platform, which will integrate patient data from multiple sides around Europe and across multiple modalities, and make the combined datasets available for clinical inquiry, statistical analysis and machine learning purposes.
